How to Drive Social Media Traffic to Your Website

Make Sure Your ‘About’ Sections and Bios Feature Your Website URL

This is a basic one but an important one. Making sure you input all the important contact information and website information in your social media profiles means that potential customers can easily find your site and convert. Make sure you check your ‘About’ and bio sections monthly in case there are any mistakes or broken links.

Promote Blog Content

Blogs are not only beneficial for content on your website and for sharing your knowledge but they are also pieces of evergreen content for your social media content. You can take snippets of text from your blogs and use them as short social media posts with the call to action to read more on the website. This will hopefully be a hook for people to click through to your website and from there they will hopefully visit other pages too.

Call to Actions in Your Posts

As mentioned in the point above, having effective and clear Calls To Action (CTA) within your social media posts are crucial. The right type of CTA is important to signpost to the user what you want them to do. It could be ‘read on for more information’ or ‘contact us today’ or something more simple such as ‘click this link to visit our website’.

You should always make sure the URL attached to your post takes the user to a relevant landing page or this could make the user want to bounce off straight away.

Share Visual Content

It is proven that social media content that features an image or video performs better than a simple text post. This is because there’s a lot of competition on social media platforms and you need to grab your audience’s attention with something visual to make them stop scrolling. Using graphics, photography or video with your posts will highlight your brand’s personality and attract your target audience. This will then prompt these users to engage with your brand and see more of what you have to offer on your website.

Paid Advertising

Paid advertising on social media platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn is great for targeting new audiences. You can set up paid advertising campaigns and select your objective for what you want to achieve. The most common and basic objective is to drive website traffic directly from your ads to your homepage or a specific landing page. All you need to do is create an engaging and eye-catching advert, select the audience you want to appeal to and set it live. This is one of the quickest ways to increase website traffic because it places your adverts on potential customer’s feeds and if it has a clear message and CTA, they are much more likely to click through and become a customer.

These are just a few ways you can increase traffic from your social media to your website, but above all, being active and engaging with your content will help you get your customers from A to B.
